The Journey of a Guitar Prodigy: George and the Musical Odyssey

In a candid conversation with Tim Caple on the new show George delves into the highs and lows of his musical journey. From the early days of inspiration to the challenges of maintaining success he shares insights that resonate with musicians and fans alike and who it was that first inspired him and got him thinking that a life in the music business was him

and like many of this generation it won't surprise you to know that the first sighting of "The Beatles" was clearly one of those moments that helped shape his views.

From stories of late-night studio sessions to reflections on life on the road, George opens up about the moments that shaped his sound and the passion that still fuels his creativity today. He and Tim dive into the making of Dance with the Devil, what fans can expect from the new record, and how his approach to music has evolved over the years. Whether you’ve followed Lynch since the early Dokken days or you’re just discovering his work, this conversation is packed with insight, inspiration, and plenty of guitar talk.

In the early days George recalls the profound impact of his father's musical influence, describing a home filled with classical, flamenco, and jazz. "My father was in the military," he shares, "and he had all sorts of music going on." Despite this rich musical environment, George faced challenges when his father deemed the guitar "an instrument of the devil," leading to a year and a half away from his beloved instrument.

Rediscovering the Guitar: Upon returning to his guitar, George faced the daunting task of regaining his skills. "I dedicated myself at that point," he reflects, "I'm not leaving my bedroom till I get good again." This period of intense practice marked a turning point, though he admits, "I never got as good as I was."

Influences and Inspirations: George' musical influences are as varied as they are profound. From the British Invasion to icons like Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix, he absorbed a wide range of styles. "I never learned anything verbatim," he explains, "but I would play in the spirit of these people."

The Band Experience: Reflecting on his time with bands like Dokken, George acknowledges the role of conflict in their success. "They may have thrived on conflict," he notes, "but the success was still there nonetheless." Despite the challenges, he cherishes the camaraderie and shared achievements with his bandmates.

The Creative Process: George's approach to music is both meticulous and passionate. He describes the process of creating albums with a mix of pride and self-criticism. "I get very excited genuinely," he admits, "but I feel I need to be self-critical."

As George continues to create and perform, he remains driven by the same passion that fueled his early days. "The early days of struggling were the most beautiful times," he reflects, emphasizing the importance of heart and dedication in his musical journey.
