Graham Bonnet recalls a pivotal moment in his childhood when his teacher, Mr. Gill, recognised his natural talent for harmony. "Who's that singing in harmony? Is it you, Bonnet? You're too loud," Mr. Gill remarked, highlighting Bonnet's innate musical ability. This early encouragement set the stage for a lifelong love affair with music.

Influences and Inspirations: Bonnet's musical influences are as diverse as they are profound. He fondly remembers listening to Mario Lanza, whose powerful voice left a lasting impression. "I was listening to Mario Lanza every freaking day because he had such a powerful voice and so much emotion," Bonnet shares. This admiration for vocal prowess would later shape his own singing style.

Graham's career took a significant turn when he crossed paths with the Bee Gees. "Barry said to Trevor, I'd like to start working with you again," Bonnet recalls, describing the chance meeting that would lead to new opportunities. His time hanging out with the Bee Gees opened doors to collaborations and performances that would define his career.

Challenges and Triumphs: Despite his success, Bonnet faced challenges, including a brief stint with Southern Comfort. "Their American manager said I don't think Graham should be in the band," he recounts, reflecting on the ups and downs of his musical journey. Yet, his resilience and passion for rock and roll kept him moving forward.

Graham Bonnet's time with Rainbow was marked by both success and challenges. Reflecting on the band's hit "Since You've Been Gone," Bonnet recalls, "I didn't see how it suited the band at all... but when Cozy came over to my apartment later in London, he said, you saved that album by doing that." This song catapulted Rainbow into the limelight, making them a household name.

Touring and Triumphs: Bonnet's first major tour was a nerve-wracking experience. "I was really scared because I'd never been on a tour like this," he admits. However, the overwhelming support from fans was a shot of adrenaline. "The sound of that audience was like a shot in the arm of adrenaline," he recalls, highlighting the electrifying energy of live performances.

Collaborations and Challenges: Throughout his career, Bonnet has worked with some of the most talented musicians. His collaboration with Steve Vai was particularly memorable. "Steve had this video of his playing... he plays it like a piano," Bonnet shares, emphasizing Vai's unique style and talent.

A Legacy of Influence: Bonnet's influence extends beyond his music. His dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with audiences have left a lasting impact. "It's wonderful to see the audience... more young people in their teens," he notes, reflecting on the diverse fanbase that continues to support him.

What about the here and now , the future ? well this month Graham releases a brand new live album "Lost In Hollywood" and it shows that time has not dimmed the power of his voice , back in August 2024 at the Whisky a Go Go in LA he and the band took to the stage and ran through a setlist of timeless hard rock classics from Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz and looking further ahead to 2026 a new album from the graham Bonnet band is on the way which includes guest contributions from legendary figures including Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson.
